Impact Investing (beginning of) Tribute #6: To Muhammad Ali & "Red Bike Moments"
Last year I visited the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky and learned about the “Red Bike Moment”. At twelve years old, a thief stole then Cassius Marcellus Clay’s new red Schwinn bicycle outside of the Louisville Home Show. The police officer he reported this to was Sergeant Joe Martin who trained boxers and introduced young Clay to the sport. For the next six years, Clay trained under Martin, eventually becoming the World Champ we all know and to many “The Greatest”. The "Red Bike Moment" changed his destiny. “At a very young age, Muhammad made a conscious decision to use boxing as a platform for social justice and peacemaking on a global basis. Muhammad Ali utilized his “Red Bike Moment”© to fight a different kind of fight that persisted while still in the ring, and continued until his passing in June, 2016.” https://lnkd.in/dqiDsJq Does a "Red Bike Moment" empower you?
